How many chat applications are there on our devices?
How many chat groups are there in our chat application?
How many chat groups are there with some of the members in our other chat groups?
The existence of a "community" group in the form of a group chats is actually very dynamic and not something static. A group can be formed and can also easily disappear or change into a new group again. What will continue to happen is the flexibility and permeability of the humans. If we relate anthropometric theory to how humans (or a group of humans) make dimensional relationships in a space, the relations and tensions between the static-dynamic elements can cover different contexts because humans almost never acquire or intervene in space personally, but rather in groups. This complexity occurs very specifically when we talk about groups of people in Indonesia that are indeed very pluralistic and have different characteristics in each place of existence.
As said by Lefebvre, human societies are a spatial phenomenon who occupy regions of the earth's surface, and within and between these regions material resources move, people encounter each other and information is transmitted. It is through its realization in material spaces that we can recognize that a society exists in the first place. Hence, within the ubiquitous development of information and communication technologies, how might we actually define the societal relationship where the term ‘space’ is mostly immaterial?
Vorociety is a submission project for an exhibition at Bintaro Design District 2018 which is held at Kopimanyar, Bintaro. The topic ‘Permeable Society’ provided by the organizers invites us to rethink how our urban society has evolved towards a more dynamic and sophisticated relationship between individuals.
Indonesian urban society has a high complexity related to static-dynamic conditions in spatial relations, where this cannot be separated from the rapid changes that occur in living space
they. Society will very fluidly position themselves as part of the association of certain groups of society, and at other times he is part of the association of other community groups. Simple things in social life such as the association of Rukun Tetangga (RT) and Rukun Warga (RW) in an area are examples of this condition. A person must be able to position himself relatively in relation to his position as a member of the RT as well as a member of a particular RW.
The emergence of terms such as ‘shared-space’, ‘communal-space’ and so on, cannot be separated from the phenomenon of human awareness of their porous condition. From these conditions we can also examine the relativity of the definition of a space-privacy in the realm of architecture because it could be that the privacy of that space does occur very flexibly based on the needs and the time a space is being used.
A Voronoi diagram that is constantly moving both in terms of position and the number of cells in a constant bounding box is a medium that we feel is appropriate to visualize our proposition regarding a permeable society.
A constant bounding box is a diagrammatic visualization of the total number of subjects that is always constant in a certain area. Voronoi cells that are always moving, increasing, and decreasing is a diagrammatic visualization of the fluid society which always intersects with each other. With the total number of subjects that are always constant, and the number of societies that are always moving, the number of members in each society is basically always in a dynamic position.
A subject (at certain x, y, z coordinates in the bounding box) will always be in a society but again, in a relative position, at one time the subject is part of one society, and a moment later the subject is part of the rest of society.
Voronoi interior space quality can also be seen as a detailed material representation in permeable society’s point of view. Voronoi cells that move give rise to a form that is not fixed, only boundaries which give the outermost shape, it is the quality of movement by the Voronoi cells which define the characteristics of interiority and reciprocal effects that will happen.
For example, the increasing number of Voronoi cells within a fixed limit will make the societal groups become less flexible thus needs a phase to join with another group or move in search of a space that meets its social needs, or even choose to disappear from the existence of social groups.
